Dollymount Strand Beach
Dollymount Strand Beach is the largest beach that is located in close proximity to Dublin’s city centre. It is located on Bull Island, which was developed in Dublin Bay in the 19th century as a solution to the silting issues that had been occurring there. This island’s sandy beach extends over the whole distance of its five kilometres of coastline. Dollymount Strand Beach is now a significant nature reserve, serving as a nesting ground for a great variety of avian species and ranking among the most heavily protected sites in Ireland.
During the warm summer months, the island is staffed by lifeguards, and it is possible to find mobile bars and food vendors all over the place. In addition, there is a first aid centre and free showers accessible here. Paddle boarding and kite surfing are two popular water sports that can be enjoyed on this beach, which is also a UNESCO biosphere reserve and is popular for exploring on foot.
Bull island, which can be reached from the mainland by way of a causeway, is home to not one but two golf courses as well as several parking lots. A huge parking lot that provides direct access to the beach as well as public restrooms can be found at Bull Wall Swim Point, which is located in the far southwest corner of the beach. You may also find a huge parking lot in the general vicinity of the beach’s centre, which also provides direct access.
